Wedding videography at the West Mill
The West Mill is an exclusive use wedding venue in Derby. It has a rich history, having been transformed from a cotton spinning mill, dating all the way back to the early 1,800s!
It has now been fully restored and converted into one of the most magical of wedding venues in Derbyshire and the Midlands
You can feel the heritage as you walk inside the building, and a lot of the original features are still used to provide a unique, industrial vibe. The venue is huge, and each of the 4 floors are dedicated to a particular part of the day. Bridal prep all the way to the top in the Dressing Room, alongside the Cotton Quarter, or ceremony room. The beautiful dining space is located on the second floor, and can comfortably host up to 120 guests. The whole space is designed in a way that gives guests a different experience on each floor.
As a wedding videographer, I love the West Mill, as it allows me to be creative and artistic. The colours look vibrant, the building land itself really well to wedding videography, and the grounds are perfect for couple portraits – cute cobble streets and exposed brick work a charm on film. It’s giving me Peaky Blinders vibe!

Katie and Hooman’s stunning spring wedding.
Katie and Hooman met at University in 2015, and tied the knot at the West Mill on a gorgeous spring day.
Katie got ready at a nearby hotel, before heading to the Mill on the morning of the big day. Her and her bridal party got ready in the Dressing Room, a beautifully decorated room just outside the main ceremony area. Hooman and his groomsmen arrived at the venue all suited and booted later that morning, and I managed to capture some very special moments from inside the West Mill of him and his boys.
The ceremony was held in the Cotton Quarter, an incredible space on the top floor of the Mill. A very dramatic setting amongst exposed brick and cast iron ceiling; such a unique space to say I do.
Following a very sunny reception in the courtyard and dinner on the Breakfast Floor, we couldn’t miss the opportunity for a final golden hour couple portrait session outside of the Mill.
