Wedding videography in Tuscany
Hannah and Ryan’s wedding in San Galgano
Hannah and Ryan are based in Edinburgh, Scotland. They met in 2017, and have always loved travelling – specifically Italy, where they got engaged in 2022 on the shores of Lake Como. They wanted to plan a destination wedding where guests could enjoy being together, away from the city hustle and bussle, disconnected from the rest of the world. San Galgano abbey, in Tuscany, caught their eye, and it was the perfect choice for them to experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
As an international wedding filmmaker, Italy is one of my favourite places on earth. It totally aligns with my style and what makes me tick creatively. I love the opportunity to travel for weddings, and this particular location is something I’ll never forget.
When we spoke about their wedding film with Hannah and Ryan, they fully let me express my creativity and wanted to remember their destination wedding for what it was: a romantic affair in a historic location. Everything about their film was crafted to remind them of how it felt on the day: from the grandeur of the abbey, to their ceremony being done in the local language. All these elements are incorporated within the film to create an artistic piece that is unique and completely bespoke.
The final element to create totally inimitable art was the choice of music. For this particular film, I collaborated with a music producer, to create a soundtrack specifically based on the story I wanted to tell. Hannah and Ryan have a song that matches the essence of their day, and a film that is really one-of-a-kind.
“Outstanding! Unbelievable. It had us both in tears.”
As a wedding cinematographer, I’ve always loved to incorporate the location in my wedding films. The couple and their story make the wedding unique, but the destination they choose has deep meaning to them, too. Also known as the ‘roofless Abbey’, San Galgano is based in the heart of Tuscany. It’s not just an architectural marvel but a place steeped in history. It dates back to the 13th century, and offers a glimpse into the past with its majestic ruins and storied walls.
For Hannah and Ryan, San Galgano offered everything they wanted: a stunning and tranquil Tuscan backdrop, and timeless architecture from the abbey. San Galgano’s location in the picturesque Tuscan countryside means that the beauty doesn’t end with the abbey. The surrounding fields and cypress trees add to the charm, offering countless spots for breathtaking moments.
Hannah and Ryan wanted their destination wedding to be memorable, and it was certainly an unforgettable for me, too. I’m incredibly happy with how this wedding film has turned out.
“We can’t believe how good the film is.”
